Muzamir Mutyaba inspired Uganda Cranes to a 3-0 victory over Rwanda in the first leg of the 2018 Africa Nations Championship qualifiers played at the St. Mary's stadium in Kitende.
The KCCA FC playmaker stepped forward to convert from the spot just at the quarter hour mark.
Mutyaba added the second in the 25th before Nsibambi killed the game six minutes into the second stanza.
In his first match in full charge of the national team, interim Coach Basena opted to maintain Micho's previous formation with Nsibambi and Karisa leading the pack as Mucureezi came off the bench at the hour mark to replace Mutyaba.
Rwanda will now have to scheme for four unanswered goals when the two meet in the second leg in Kigali next week.
The winner of the tier qualifies to the January finals to be held in Kenya.
